Middle East OilReader comment on item: Islamic Economics: What Does It Mean? Submitted by John Lobenstein (United States), Oct 9, 2007 at 20:02 It may be too obvious, but why don't we develop our own [local to the western hemisphere] fossil fuel resources? I know the greenies, tourist industry, and other NIMBY activist groups will scream bloody murder about potential ill effects imaginary 'accidents'. I think any temporary ill affects resulting from an 'environmental accident' pale in comparison to real damage to civilization(s) through continued support of radical Islamic regimens by paying them petro dollars. If we can quit buying their oil their economies will too limited to finance terrorists. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
