ouggie writes: " your oh-so-righteous 'Christian' country and it's citizens are responsible for more deaths, outside and within your own borders, than all the terrorist acts in the last 50 years put together."

Well, I thought I'd provide our 'ouggie' with some information. Depending on his definition of "terrorist acts", which I assume ouggie means as acts of violence resulting in death. By the way, if he's thinking of Hiroshema and Nagsaki, that was over "50 years" ago.

Muslim-on-Muslim deaths in the world's major Muslim countries:

ALGERIA summary: 500,000 to 1 million in the war of independance; 100,000 in the civil war in the 90's.

SUDAN summary: 2.6 million to 3 million.

AFGANISTAN summary: One million to one and a half million as a result of the Soviet invasion; about 1 million in the civil war.

IRAN-IRAQ summary, 1980-1988 war: 1,000,000.

SOMALIA summary: 400,000 to 550,000 victums in the civil war.

BANGLADESH summary: 1.4 million to 2 million.................

INDONESIA summary: 400,000 killed with an additional 100,000 to 200,000 in East Timor...............

IRAN summary: 450,000 to 970,000 victums..........Peaceful religion of Allah, anyone? There's much, much more. Am I making "blanket statements" in this e-mail, ouggie? Where did I get the info.? go to:

http://users.erols.com/mwhite28/battles.htm#Massacres

To show objectivety, the following:

Hiroshima, Japan (U.S. nuclear strike 6 Aug.,1945) 92,000 deaths

Nagasaki, Japan (U.S. nuclear strike 9 Aug., 1945) 45,000 deaths

Auschwitz, Poland (German death camp, Jan. 1942 to Jan. 1945) 1,200,000 deaths

Still think it's too much for the U.S. and other countries to "Ban the Burqa"? By the way, I read "Ban the Burqa" four times. You claim, ouggie, in your previos e-mail (titled "probably one of the most ignorant things i've read in my life"), that Dr. Pipes wrote, "lest we forget, it is from the Koran that these people derive their inspiration".

IF THERE IS ONE THING I CAN"T STAND, it's to see a man of INTEGRITY and PRECISION such as Daniel Pipes being mis-quoted. This is what he said: "The practice of covering the face derives from tribal customs that build on Islamic law, not the law itsef."

Sounds to me like you need a different translator, ouggie. -JS
