"Supporters" are like that. Remember that apologists for Alger Hiss (and the Rosenbergs, for that matter) continued to believe he was innocent, even after the release of documents from the former-Soviet Union proved he was a spy.

It is standard operating procedure for "civil libertarians" and that ilk to hurl invective. Once they're proven wrong, they just walk away as though nothing ever happened. Mea culpas? Ha!
