I couldn't agree more with this article. As a professor at a small private university, and having taught several years at a state unversity before taking my present position, I have witnessed the onslaught of multiculturalism, political correctness, and postmodern jargon that is offered in the name of open dialogue regarding issues of race, gender, and etnicity. Too often, most of the discourse is anti-West, anti-American, while praising the East as a victim of heartless capitalism and possessing superior values to the West. The problem is that there is no discourse. There is no critique of such claims. Critical inquiry comes under attack itself as being a biased Western way of thinking. The university atmosphere is presently a closed system. I think the only way to deal with it is to withdraw support altogether from education. While that may sound alarmist, too much of the taxpayer's money is going to support ideas that undermine the very people who are footing the bill for these institutions to exist.
