Islam and Democracy

I find it astonishing as to how apologetic and defensive Dr. Muqtedar Khan is when he is discussing the issue of Compatibility between Islam and Democracy. It is quite simple for any person to see that Islam and Democracy are incompatible and this is due to the basis and tenets of Islam and Democracy being contradictory in essence. For example Islam is based upon divine text and inspiration ie Qur'an and Hadith whereas Democracy is based upon popular sovereignty. Legislation in Islam is based upon the Divine Text whereas legislation in a Democracy is based upon the whims and desires of man. So where is the compatibility?
