PEW ReportReader comment on item: Debate: Islam and Democracy Submitted by Julian Wasserman (Israel), Jul 18, 2003 at 17:50 In citing the Pew Report, Dr Muqtedar Kahn ignores the incompleteness of the PEW Report by his words :"an overwhelming majority of Muslims everywhere would like to have democracy."In reviewing the PEW Report; In Views of a Changing World June 2003, one notes that the section Islam and Governance starting on page 33 did not include Tunisia, Libya, Chad, Egypt, Syria, Iran, Saudia Arabia, Yemen and the Emirates. Egypt, one of the largest Arab countries, is listed as not permitting the questions. Indications are that the other countries also were not in favor of participating. Because of the war, Iraq may not have been available for polling. What shall we make of the absence of such a large Arab representation?
