Questioning Islam is, for all intents and purposes, not allowed by the religion. To suggest that the Koran is not the word of God, or that Mohammed is not the source of religous wisdom, is the highest form of blasphemy and heresy. The question is not so much, whether democracy is compatible with Islam, but rather, is dissent and questioning religous authority compatible with Islam.Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
