PBS Wins CAIR's Gratitude

Martin Kramer lambasted "Islam: Empire of Faith" and I did a number on "Muhammad: Legacy of Prophet," both shown on the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), a partially government-funded network. So, it comes as no great shock to learn that the Council on American-Islamic Relations thinks so highly of PBS that, in St. Louis, Missouri, at least, it is helping raise funds for the local PBS television station, KETC. CAIR specifically praises PBS for producing "wonderful programs" such as the two mentioned above.

In December 2003, incidentally, CAIR's St. Louis office claims that its fifteen volunteers raised nearly $15,000 for KETC. (Sounds like an exaggeration to me; more likely, CAIRites staffed the phone bank while callers happened to pledge that $15,000.) And not just that: "Each of our volunteers appeared on screen repeatedly and Executive Director James O. Hacking, III, was interviewed on camera." (June 16, 2004)
